Ogden Water Trek

Had the good fortune to bump into DW this am so we give the Ogden area a good seeing to. Enjoyable as the walk was, once again birds were at a premium. The only good sighting at Giants Tooth was a Green Woodpecker in flight.

Things have started to pick up on the water with the return of Gulls. A BHG appearing to be moulting from breeding plumage posed for a pic and 10 LBBG were further out on the drink.

3 GC Grebe were present and a pr Grey Wagtail were in the embankment overflow.

CS informs me that early on 10 Greylag were present. He also stated the YWA took the depth gauges from both Ogden and Mixenden because they hadn't worked in around 10 years! Something is going to replace them, but at this stage he doesn't know what.

Other players: couple Reed Bunting, few Meadow Pipit, 1 Skylark ditto Curlew. Singles/couples Blackcap, Chiffchaff & WW. Linnet or three. One Owl species seen elsewhere.

Had my first Queensbury House Martin yesterday at approx 1635 hrs flying over the CO-OP.
