Swillington Ings Abandoned

This mismanaged wetland has had it. Prior to the RSPB taking over different wader species were commonplace. Today it was down to a few Lapwing and a pr Redshank.

Although it was pleasant to walk around in the warm sunshine it came at cost. Much reduced bird activity and noise; even the BHGs were at half volume.
I managed a Garden Warbler which I think is the first for some time personally.

No booming Bitterns. 2 Cettis Warbler and reduced numbers of Reed & Sedge.
Sand Martins were the only hirundine and no Swift seen.
Usual inmates in low counts eg Gadwall, Pochard, Tufted.

I did manage to see Common Tern breeding evidence. No Wagtail species at all.
