It’s got to that time of year where one reluctantly acknowledges the local environment is more tempting to explore than those further afield. Accordingly the bird species inevitably shrinks and so it came to pass.
3 GSW & a Nuthatch in Littlemoor Park along with 3 Grey Tree Rats & 2 Speckled Wood flutterbye. The surrounding fields coughed up c11 Meadow Pipit, 1 each BH & Common Gull. A Kestrel had a prolonged session of Crow harassment involving 3/4 birds. Also a few Goldfinch, 1 each Grey & Pied Wagtail, couple Rook.
The pitfalls of Birding. Episode 23 of random observations: rocks in walking boots. Despite shaking said hooves before setting off within 20 minutes a large piece of gritstone makes it’s presence felt pressing sharply against the sole of ones plates.
Physical discomfort shoved aside the mind tries to rationalise the rocks presence when no gravelly ground has been trod upon 👣. I wouldn’t say this mornings specimen was exceptionally huge but I did receive a tidy sum from a local builder who needed a foundation stone 🤫.
