Queensbury News

Hi Nigel,

Sublime to ridiculous today.

We had feedback from the BTO about the ringed Lesser Redpoll which was in the garden on the 25th and 26th April. (you can see the ring in the post you made of it on the 26th). I managed to make a photo-jigsaw of all but one of the ring numbers and fortunately there was only one bird it could possibly be: Z619494, ringed as a second year female at Hilbre Bird Observatory on 18/4/18.

Later this exotic-looking pigeon appeared in the top of one of the highest Ash trees but on closer inspection of the very uneven colouration (seen in the hideous, but illustrative, flight shots), it looks as though a Phantom Pigeon-painter (dyer) has been at work.

Interestng stuff Denise. I believe Hilbre Island is off the Wirral coast so we almost got us a scouser.
