Wainstalls Circular to Mixenden

Starting with the downside; this is the first time in 21 years of moorland birding I haven't seen or heard Red Grouse. Surely things could only get better?

Wainstalls and Cold Edge: 4 Oystercatcher, few Curlew & Lapwing. 1 Herring Gull, Greylags & Canadas. 1 chipping Snipe, 2/3 Goldfinch & Linnet, 1 Pied Wagtail, few Meadow Pipit.

Cold Edge Rd: 5/6 Lapwing, 2/3 Meadow Pipit and a gift from the skies. c35 Golden Plover came flying over calling loudly and changing direction at pace before landing in front of me.

Stod Fold held the usual Curlew & a Green Woodpecker.

Mixenden Res sported a pr Oystercatcher, 5 Tufted Duck, 1 each BHG, Grey Wagtail & Moorhen. 2 Chiffchaff were singing.
