Mixenden Res Delivers

Ironically today being the 1st day of meteorological spring the weather reverted to being wintry. Nevertheless I had a good haul of birds, culminating in 14 Whooper Swan on Mixenden Res.

Soil Hill: visibility down to 20 yards at best owing to the fog. 7 Skylark, 2 Pied Wagtail ditto Blackbird. A few Lapwing heard as was a Red-legged Partridge & a Pheasant.

2 Curlew were in the Back Lane area nr Ogden Res. A small group of Crossbill flew noisily above the track skirting the E side of the water. A Pr of GSW were bothering. The gulls have really thinned out now, an adult LBB was noted.
One Treecreeper was climbing around by the Lodge House main gate.

A male Stonechat was sharing a bush with a Blackbird & a Dunnock by the golf course with a couple of Meadow Pipit nearby. 2 Green Woodpeckers heard in the area.
6 Curlew seen on the deck then in flight at Stod Fold.

I can stand some more of this anytime 😊
