Pot Pourri

DS Reports the first Siskin in her garden since April 2019.

Good news and thanks for the photo Denise.

On the insect front I found irrefutable evidence, again, that nature is fickle. This morning I found the Small Tortoiseshell flutterbye that allowed me to live with it had moved from it's roosting place in my staircase. It had been there since August last year. I relocated it and placed it back in that area but just 20 minutes later it had moved again not to be relocated.
This ties in with the increasing daylight and weather patterns recently. Yesterday the cold had killed both a large grub and the biggest caterpillar I have ever seen. The latter was on Soil Hell beneath some broom, it was very dark blue and about 2-1/2 inches long.
